(sg) Jason Dema - 1102) After Saleke's intro, Jason had to explain the situation first in his own words, before others had to. Jason stood up and took a deep breath, before beginning his story. "Well Sir, as you know, the Klingons were making quite a ruckus in the lounge, celebrating Travis' oncoming marriage. But that really wasn't the problem. The problem started, when on of them went to a couple, and tried to 'seduce' the woman." Jason said that in a tone, like it sounded more to force the girl. "I myself was sitting with Ensign Taya at a table next to it at that moment. After he knocked her friend out, I thought I should intervene, and stop the Klingon. I took my type I phaser and concealed it in my hand, as to not attract an assault on first sight, and kept both my hands behind my back as I talked to the Klingon. I politely asked him to leave the girl. This was met with an attack from the Klingon. Saying I had my phaser, I used it and stunned the Klingon, in order so that no one would get hurt. Then two other Klingons came at me, and Ensign Ranae intervened to help me, leaving me with one, who disarmed me. Somewhere during that fight I heard Ranae stopping a Klingon from forcefully dragging a woman along, but I'm not clear on that so I won't go into it." Jason took a quick look at Ranae before looking at Taya and continued his story. "While still fighting my Klingon, Taya engaged another one. I didn't see the reason for this, but I noticed her fainting. With all my strength, I finally got the Klingon of me and hit him on the head with a bottle standing nearby on a table. Grabbing my phaser again, I went to Taya and placed her on one of the couches near the entrance. I then took a spot somewhere and shouted to stop the fighting, or else they would be stunned immediately. A Klingon thinking I was bluffing got stunned, before security arrived, who then took over, and I took Taya to sickbay." Jason took a final look in the room, and sat back down, to wait for Garret's turn. (reply any) (posted by Anthony Struelens) ------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge- ATAC Ensign (Jg) Ammon Ranae - 1103) After Saleke's intro, Lt. Dema stood up and told his story. "Well Sir, as you know, the Klingons were making quite a ruckus in the lounge, celebrating Travis' oncoming marriage. But that really wasn't the problem. The problem started, when on of them went to a couple, and tried to 'seduce' the woman." From his tone, it was apparent that it was far from being seduction and more like the Klingon was forcing his attention on her. Ranae listened intently as he continued. Somewhere during that fight I heard Ranae stopping a Klingon from forcefully dragging a woman along, but I'm not clear on that so I won't go into it." Dema glanced at Ranae who gave a brief nod; it would be up to her to explain that for sure. Then he looked at Taya and continued his story. "While still fighting my Klingon, Taya engaged another one. I didn't see the reason for this, but I noticed her feinting. A Klingon thinking I was bluffing got stunned, before security arrived, who then took over, and I took Taya to sickbay." Ranae was feeling a bit better about her part in the fighting, pleased that Lt. Dema had been aware of her intervention. Now when it was time for her to explain, she had his story to back her up. Lt. Dema took a final look in the room, and sat back down. Then it was Garrett's turn. (reply any) (posted by Sal) ----------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - Lt. Mason Garrett - 1104) Mason listened to Lt. Dema's explanation with interest, because until that time he really hadn't known how the fight started. "I was in the lounge with Lt. Keswick and his family when the incident began, but did not directly observe its beginning. Once it started, however, the situation escalated rapidly. Apparently, a number of the lounge patrons were drinking something other than a syntheholic beverage. Several were quite inebriated judging by their faltering equilibrium." And it was a good thing too, he thought, remembering one unwieldy Klingon in particular with the bad aim. "After the fight began, I observed a Starfleet officer being assaulted, I don't know his name but I must assume he was not from Mystique since he is not present here." He indicated the assembled party and continued. "This man was already engaged and did not observe that another person was encroaching upon him from behind. I intercepted this would-be attacker. In the struggle, two more Klingons engaged themselves in the fracas. Ensign Harper came to my aid. I was able to strike one with a head-blow that rendered him unconscious." He rubbed his mended hand. "At that point, I observed that Ensign Harper was being strangled by his opponent, so I attacked the Klingon who in turn came at me with a piece of broken furniture and probably would have caused me serious injury if Ensign Darson had not struck him with a solid metal object. Once my opponent was subdued, I signaled the Mystique to beam Ensign Harper to Sickbay. It was about that time that Lt. Dema calmed the situation. Shortly thereafter, as he reported, the station's security forces arrived." (Reply: Saleke) (Posted by David) ------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge- CO, Captain Saleke - 1105) Jason Dema was the first to speak as directed. "Well Sir, as you know, the Klingons were making quite a ruckus in the lounge, celebrating Travis' oncoming marriage. But that really wasn't the problem. The problem started, when on of them went to a couple, and tried to 'seduce' the woman." The inflection in Jason's voice was not lost on Saleke, marking it as sarcasm and indicating the motivation the Klingon attempted to use was forceful. That would however have been noted on the record officially. Somewhere during that fight I heard Ranae stopping a Klingon from forcefully dragging a woman along, but I'm not clear on that so I won't go into it." Jason took a quick look at Ensign Ammon before looking at the ACSO then continuing his story. "While still fighting my Klingon, Taya engaged another one. I didn't see the reason for this, but I noticed her feinting. With all my strength, I finally got the Klingon of me and hit him on the head with a bottle standing nearby on a table. I then took a spot somewhere and shouted to stop the fighting, or else they would be stunned immediately. A Klingon thinking I was bluffing got stunned, before security arrived, who then took over, and I took Taya to sickbay." Saleke stopped Mason before he began in order to get a clarification. "Lieutenant Dema you inferred form your tone that the Klingon was using coercion rather than mere seduction to gain the woman’s favors, is this correct?" (Reply: Jason) "In that case please state so explicitly for the record, there is a great difference between an amorous advance and using force to gain sexual gratification outside the law." (Reply: Jason) After Lt. Dema was finished Mason Garrett took over the narrative. "I was in the lounge with Lt. Keswick and his family when the incident began, but did not directly observe its beginning. Once it started, however, the situation escalated rapidly. Apparently, a number of the lounge patrons were drinking something other than a syntheholic beverage. Several were quite inebriated judging by their faltering equilibrium. In the struggle, two more Klingons engaged themselves in the fracas. Ensign Harper came to my aid. I was able to strike one with a head-blow that rendered him unconscious." He rubbed a hand, most likely the one which he had used to strike the Klingon. Shortly thereafter, as he reported, the station's security forces arrived." Saleke nodded, satisfied that the facts were in order then turned to Ensign Taya. "Ms. Taya you were at the table with Lt. Dema then?" (Reply: Taya) "Do you concur with his assessment of the cause of the struggle and do you have anything to add to what he has said?" (Reply: Taya) After listening to her he then turned his attention to the Ranae. "Ensign did you see how the fight started?" (Reply: Ranae) "Please state then for the record the reason for your involvement in the altercation." (Reply: Ranae) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge- ATAC Ensign(Jg) Ammon Ranae - 1106) "....A Klingon thinking I was bluffing got stunned, before security arrived, who then took over, and I took Taya to sickbay." Dema concluded. Saleke stopped Garrett before he began in order to get a clarification. (Reply: Taya) After listening to her he then turned his attention to the Ranae. "Ensign did you see how the fight started?" "No, Sir. I heard a skirmish and went to see what it was about. I saw Lt. Dema was involved and there was a frightened woman trying to help a young man from the floor. Lt. Dema was facing off with a Klingon who was about to be backed up by two more drunken Klingons." "Please state then for the record the reason for your involvement in the altercation." "I went to stand with the lieutenant as he was outnumbered, but another Klingon grabbed the terrified female and said he'd take her to the holodecks. He began to drag her away despite her resistance, so I rushed to intervene, barring his way out. I advised him to let the woman go and that kidnapping and rape was against the law on the Federation station, and informed him of the penalties he and his ship would suffer if he continued... He pushed the woman at me and challenged me to fight him but I told him there was no reason for me too as he had released the female and turned around to see that the fighting had worsened. More had joined in. I looked around for you, Captain but you had gone and when I saw several Klingons beating on one Starfleet officer I brought down two, but that's all I can remember. I woke up in Sickbay with a horrendous lump on the back of my head, a headache and a concussion." (Reply Taya, Saleke, any) (Posted by -------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge- CO, Captain Saleke - 1115) Following Taya, Ensign Ammon replied to Saleke's question. "No, Sir. I heard a skirmish and went to see what it was about. I saw Lt. Dema was involved and there was a frightened woman trying to help a young man from the floor. Lt. Saleke nodded at her concise description of the events she had been a witness to then turned to the ACEO. "Ensign Harper please relate for the record what you saw and how you came to be involved in the fracas." (Reply: Norm) The Vulcan didn't miss the look of contrition of the ACEO's face, he appeared to be having an inward struggle with his part in the brawl but his reaction was slightly out of the ordinary none-the-less considering he had been helping to subdue those involved in starting it. "Is there anything else you would like to add for the record Mr. Harper?" (Reply: Norm) With the debriefing nearly concluded he turned to the last two ladies involved. "Ms. Darson according to the security report you happened upon the altercation near its conclusion, what did you see and how did you become involved?" (Reply: Cindy) "Ensign Foran security claims you were uninvolved in the fighting but were a witness therefore you were called to this debriefing, do you have anything to add?" (Reply: Noonan) "Very well," he said in finality and tapped the button that ended the recording. "This debriefing is concluded and will be forwarded to command for review, everything appears to be in order and agrees with the report from station security, Lieutenant Dema and Lieutenant Garrett please remain seated and Mr. Harper I would like for you to remain on the bridge in case I call you, the rest of you are dismissed." (Reply: everyone there) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Transporter Room 1- CSO, Lt. Commander Holis Gralen- 1335) Holis took a deep breath as the transporter effect ended and looked toward the console where the technician was nodding in satisfaction at the completed procedure, the Betazoid then stepped off the pad and walked toward the officer. "CSO Gralen requesting permission to come aboard," he smiled then with a wide grin showing white, even teeth. (Reply: Transporter technician, any) "Thank you," Holis rubbed his right hand through his receding hair which was noticeable but not glaring. "I thought command was daffy for putting me on one ship but now they've one-upped themselves." He grumbled. "All I wanted to be was a civilian scientist but first they press me into duty on one ship and right after I get comfortable there they move me again. How many ships have you served on?" (Reply: Technician, any) "At least Michaella is already here," Holis grin got wider. "That's the bright light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. What's your name anyway?" (Reply: Technician, any) ------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Transporter Room 1- TC Shurik Rosanov- 1336) Shurik found himself happily at work with a new beam-in. He checked his coordinates, checked them again and then began to carefully control the beaming process. A shimmering figure began to appear on a transporter pad ahead of him and continued to solidify as Shurik continued to monitor the transport. As the figure of a fully beamed man finally stood firmly on the ship, Shurik began to nod satisfactorily to himself. The man stepped off the transporter and looked up at Shurik who smiled a gentle welcome. "CSO Gralen requesting permission to come aboard," the man returned the smile which spread to an open grin. "Permission granted," Shurik made a slight bow of his upper torso. "Thank you," Shurik watched silently as Gralen ran his hand through his receding hair, but hardly took notice of the motion, "I thought command was daffy for putting me on one ship but now they've one-upped themselves." He grumbled. "All I wanted to be was a civilian scientist but first they press me into duty on one ship and right after I get comfortable there they move me again. How many ships have you served on?" Shurik shrugged apologetically, "Jest one, sure. Spent most of me life vasting me time vith a bad marriage. No von should evar marry young. It puts too many extra years on their lives. "At least Michaella is already here," Holis grin got wider. "That's the bright light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. What's your name anyway?" Shurik raised an eyebrow and shrugged, "Rosanov, sur. Shurik Rosanov. I look forward to seeing you again, sir." "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'll look you up after I get myself situated onboard." Shurik accepted the offer with a grin, "Vas very nice meeting you too, sur. You kin find me in a holodik. Von of da many," he said, "or in ten forward after duty?" Shurik was sure he was going to like the new CSO, although he had no real reason to suspect any such thing. "Dasvidanya." He saluted out of trained respect for higher-ranking officers and stepped back toward his post. (reply Holis iyw) (posted by Justine) ------------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Transporter Room 1- CSO, Lt. "The same here Shurik," Holis held out his hand for a shake. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'll look you up after I get myself situated onboard." (Reply: Shurik iyw) ------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Bridge - CSO, Lt. Commander Holis Gralen- 1350) After leaving the transporter room Holis had taken his time, dropping by the CSO's office and taking a quick look around the labs before looking for the captain, since the Vulcan had been in the Ready Room the whole time and he had until 1700 hours to report in anyway he had been in no hurry. Michaella had been indisposed as well otherwise he would have put this off a little longer. There was a guard standing before the door to the Ready Room, it didn't take Holis long to recognize who he was. "Well my, my. If it isn't Private Kane Curtis, how are you today Mr. Curtis?" (Reply: Kane) "Good, good." He crooned. "Fancy meeting you here, what are you doing on the Mystique?" (Reply: Kane) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Ready Room- CSO, Lt. Commander Holis Gralen- 1355) After speaking with Kane Holis found himself having to wait for the Captains permission before he could enter. ~Da**ed nuisance!~ He thought before walking in. ~What it it? Are they too good on board this ship to have a simple buzzer on the Ready Room door? Bodyguard my a**! Who's going to try and assassinate a Captain aboard a Federation starship?~ The Vulcan captain was seated serenely behind the desk awaiting his entrance, Holis pasted a smile on his face after getting a firm mental "hold" of himself and walked toward him. "Captain." He said simply with no salute or stiffening of his body. "I've been transferred to the Mystique from the Nimitz as you know. Holis Gralen at your service." "Doctor Gralen welcome aboard." His predecessor from the Nimitz said. "Please be seated." "Sure." Holis plopped into the chair across from the Vulcan and looked the man over, he was young, too young Holis knew and not too far from the Academy as he had learned after taking over the science department on the Nimitz. He shook his head. He had no doubt if he voiced his opinion on the illogic of the Vulcan’s situation that Saleke would agree with him implicitly. What was Saleke anyway? Six months out of the Academy and already the Captain of a starship? The thought of the war being run by near babes was haunting and Holis suppressed a shiver. Holis was thirty two years old himself, about the age men should be attaining such ranks having years of experience behind them, not that he wanted to be a captain... far from it, he wanted to be what he had been before the war had pulled him in, a research scientist studying the subspace river and blazing new trails in science.... as a civilian, not a warrior. The Vulcan steepled his fingers before him and tilted his head a bit as he looked at the man who was obviously intently studying him as well. "Doctor Gralen welcome to the Mystique, you brought your orders with you I presume?" "Of course," He said and brought a small PADD out of a pocket. "Da**ed nuisance. Couldn't they have just transmitted them beforehand?" "Of course Doctor and they did in short form, however they also wish for the Captain to be able to look more completely into the background of a new crewman should he wish it and I find it a logical action to do so." The man across from him chuckled. "That must have quite an experience for the science department to have you as the CSO." Saleke lifted an eyebrow. "Excuse me." "On the Nimitz." Holis said with merriment in his eyes. "They still talk about you, you know. Chan Kenishi just rolls his eyes and grins but Lt. Jones laughed out loud the first time he told me about you. An eyebrow arched. "I see. Lieutenant Jones was quite undisciplined when I took over the department but I noticed an improvement during my time there." "He still keeps trying to beat Lance Armstrong and someday he may actually do it. I hear he was quite sore from his first ride when he was called into your office and given a royal chewing out your first day on the job." Holis winked and burst into a grin. Saleke looked at the padd still in the scientists hands, Holis seemed to notice it again and handed it over. "I was not satisfied with his choice of scans in the vicinity of an anomaly and the phased induction polarity scan was missed, I made sure he was aware of my views on his view of standard operating procedure." "So I heard." Holis watched the Vulcan look through the contents of the padd. Finished he looked up after several minutes. "Your qualifications seem to be beyond reproach doctor however I see you took a rather large jump in rank. Going from Ensign senior grade to Lieutenant Commander in one promotion is uncommon." Holis grin faded but didn't leave. "If I had my wish I would have stayed at Ensign or been transferred back to Geneva but captain Sash was insistent that I was no longer a civilian. Da** the man!" He chuckled to show he was kidding. "He's a good fellow but we couldn't agree on the issue." "I see." Saleke said. "We have some time before the staff meeting at 1500, please tell me about your time on the Nimitz." (Reply: None) (Posted by Charles) ------------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Sickbay - Asst CSO Ensign Naraht - 1416) Crossing sickbay Dr. Vren Marto stopped just in front of him. "Ensign, you'll be pleased to know that Mr. Physioc came through surgery well. He is in recovery and will be transferred to a private ward once we are happy that his condition is stable. Once there you may visit him anytime you wish; however since he suffered severe injury to his head I would prefer to keep him unconscious for several days to let him heal. Now, if you will excuse me I need to go update his records." “Thank you so much Dr. Vren,” said Naraht, relieved. “But you may need to check for additional damage to his auditory organs. I used a loud piercing noise as and more painful but less violent way in an attempt to slow down the crowd. I appreciate all you have done. I will be back to check on him again later.” The doctor turned and headed for her office. Naraht left Sickbay intending to check with the station about Lieutenant Lily Lee. He headed for the bridge, following protocol, to contact the station from there. ------------------------------------------ (USS Mystique - Bridge - Asst CSO Ensign Naraht - 1419) The turbolift doors opened and Naraht moved, rumbling, out onto the Mystique’s bridge. He approached the officer at the conn. “Excuse me, Lieutenant but would it be all right for me to contact the station Sickbay?” requested Naraht. The blond woman turned and surprised, asked “Mr. Naraht, whatever for?” “A security officer got hurt on the Promenade trying to defend me from an angry mob and I wanted to see how she was recovering.” The officer smiled. “Certainly Mr. Naraht.” She turned to the Ensign at the OPS station. “Ensign, call up the station’s Sickbay for Mr. Naraht.” The ensign pressed several buttons and made the connection. “Put it on the screen.” The dark screen flickered from its partial view of the station and stars to a tired looking human doctor in the station’s Sickbay. “Yeah, what is it? I’m busy!” he snapped. Naraht moved forward toward the viewscreen so it could show him clearly. “Hello sir. I am Ensign Naraht and Lt. Lily Lee was hurt trying to defend me and a fellowman crewman who is a Betazoid from the angry mob on the station. My apologies for bothering you, but I wish to inquire about her recovery.” “Everbody wants to know how she is. I’ve had at least three calls askin’ about her, wantin’ to know how she got hurt in that fight.” The doctor’s face came closer and he frowned into the screen. “She got into a fight over a Horta? As I understand it there isn’t much that can hurt you. You sure don’t look human.” The doctor sighed and rubbed his hand over his eyes. “Lt. Lee is now in stable condition, Ensign, but she’ll be off duty with a broken arm and a concussion for a few days at least. I suggest that you stay on your ship as much as possible. Feelin’s are runnin’ pretty high on the station right now, especially concernin’ aliens, thanks to those Humans for Humanity bigots stirrin’ up folks.” “Humans for Humanity caused this? I will inform our Captain. Please tell the Lieutenant that I hope she gets better quickly and that I will not forget her courage in the face of such overwhelming odds. I was horrified to see her and Ensign Physioc getting crushed by the crowd. Tell her thank you for defending me so bravely in spite of the obvious danger to herself.” “I will be sure to tell her, Ensign.” He sighed. “Lieutenant Lee is highly thought of around here. You stay out of trouble in the meantime.” “Yes sir,” said Naraht. “I intend to.” The doctor signed off. (Reply none) (Posted by Sheila) --------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - ACSO Ensign Naraht (jg) - 1450) "I only came aboard yesterday actually." Ranae informed the Horta. "It sounds like you had an interesting mission! I don't think you should be nervous, these meetings are commonplace and they can't be any worse than the holo-simulations we had to endure at the academy." “Yes but if I failed, I would only embarrass myself in front of the instructor. This way if I mess up, I have the opportunity to be embarrassed in front of my peers and my Captain. No heavy pressure there, right?” said Naraht, waving his main phalange in the air with humor. “In fact, I suspect that Captain Saleke won’t like me at the meeting very well. He won’t be able to look me in the eye. I’m too short!” Naraht waved his main phalange again. “If I sat on the table, I would probably break it and he would not be pleased then either. Then Dr. Vren might insist that I begin a rock loss program,” said Naraht impudently, waving again. “But I will be able to see everyone else just fine by putting the tip of my bigger phalange on the edge of the table.” He demonstrated. “I’m afraid I don’t fit these chairs very well either. But I just love ramps; they are my friends! I wish you humanoids would quit putting stairs everywhere,” added Naraht dryly. “I can navigate them all right, but it slows me down more than I like.” Just then the door opened to the observation lounge. Dr, Vren Marto walked into Lounge and stopped. She walked down the table and stopped in front of Ensign Ammon. She spoke. "Ensign Ammon I presume. Welcome aboard the Mystique. I am Lt Vren Marto your CMO. I'm please to meet you.” (Reply Ranae, IYW) Placing her PADD on the table at a spare seat she noticed a phalange showing over the top of the table opposite her and smiled. "Hello again Ensign Naraht." “Hello again Dr. Vren.” said Naraht, feeling much more subdued, thinking of Physioc. He felt terrible about the fact that two people got hurt on the station because of him. ~But it wasn’t because of me, it was because of that angry crowd that anybody got hurt.~ thought Naraht firmly. But there was that nagging thought that if he had not gone onto the station, they might never been injured. His phalangi rippled as he brushed the guilt laden thought from his mind. Crossing to the replicator she requested a glass of iced water. Turning round she regarded the other two people in the room. "Can I get either of you anything while we wait?" “I have eaten my daily meal thank you Doctor,” said Naraht quietly. “How is Ensign Physioc? Has his condition stabilized yet?” (Reply Ammon Ranae, Dr. Vren Marto) (Posted by Sheila) ----------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - ATAC Ensign(Jg) Ammon Ranae - 1452) "I only came aboard yesterday actually." Ranae informed the Horta. “I can navigate them all right, but it slows me down more than I like.” Again the doors opened, and instinctively Ranae looked up half expecting not to see anyone, but then again, what were the odds of there being two Hortas on board. A Bajoran woman walked in and looked a bit surprised. Ensign Ammon recognized her as the CMO from studying the roster during her leisure time, well, that is...when she wasn't sleeping or brawling. Walking down the side of the table the CMO stopped right in front of Ranae. "Ensign Ammon I presume. Welcome aboard the Mystique. I am Lt. Vren Marto your CMO. I'm please to meet you." "How do you do, Lt. Vren. Thank you, I'm happy with my assignment to the Mystique." Ranae replied politely. ~At least she appears not to resent my Cardassian blood.~ Placing her PADD on the table at a spare seat, Marto Vren noticed Naraht's phalange showing over the top of the table opposite her. She smiled. "Hello again Ensign Naraht." “Hello again Dr. Vren,” said Naraht. Crossing to the replicator the lieutenant requested a glass of iced water, then she turned round to look at Ranae and Naraht, and thoughtfully offered to get them something. “I have eaten my daily meal thank you Doctor,” said Naraht quietly. “How is Ensign Physioc? Has his condition stabilized yet?” "Ice water would be perfect, thank you." Ranae requested, smiling softly and wondered what a Horta would want. ~A bowl of gravel perhaps?~ Not a little disappointed that she wouldn't find out. (Reply Naraht. Vren) (Posted by Sal) --------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - ACEO Ensign (sg) Norman Harper, TC Ensign (jg) Shurik Rosanov- 1455) Norm found himself slipping into the observation lounge much later than he had anticipated. He took the time to curse silently at his inability to get anywhere in a timely fashion today. He nodded a greeting toward the Captain, nodded toward Doctor Vren as she made her way back to her seat, gave a small wave of his hand to Ranae and took an empty seat next to her. He didn't quite recognize the other man in the room, and didn't take notice of Ensign Naraht until he moved. Norm unfortunately couldn't say he had met the new science officer face-to-face yet, but he had seen his name on the ships roster. He nodded in Ensign Naraht's direction, smiled at the unfamiliar man and leaned over to Ranae. "Haven't seen you since sick bay," he said, forgetting that she had never heard him speaking at his regular volume. "How're you doing?" (reply Ranae) "That goes for you too, Marto. Haven't seen you since sick bay this morning! How're things going?" He didn't want to touch directly on the wedding in case of complications she might not want to share with him, but he thought he should touch up with her any how. (reply Marto) Just as Norm finished his inquiry the transporter chief walked in through swishing doors. As he looked about the room he made note of all who were present, smiled and greeted each of them by saying their names and nodding in their direction, trying to keep a damper on his sometimes outrageous accent. He found a vacant seat, placed his hands comfortably on his knees and waited silently. (reply any) (posted by Justine) ----------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain Saleke- 1453) Saleke was normally the first to arrive at a meeting beginning from his time as CSO, he had made it a point to do so for several reasons, primarily because it allowed him to go over his report one last time before the meeting began but also because it made a more efficient use of ones time rather than arriving at the last minute and being hurried. Since he had entered the command ranks the reasons had mounted to include setting an example of leadership and having a firm hold over the proceedings, this time however there had been much to do in preparation for this briefing, not the least of which was the shake-up of the command line and installation of two new departmental chiefs, one of which was following closely behind him as he entered to find three officers already there. Vren Marto was handing a glass of iced water to Ensign Ammon and a phalange that had zeroed in on his position from the other side of the table indicated the science department had already been represented. Saleke nodded to Doctor Vren and the ATAC. "Doctor, Ensign Ammon." (Reply: Marto, Ranae) Saleke walked to the head of the table as a Betazoid male approximately 5'10" with a scholarly air and slightly distracted gaze entered behind him and smiled at the two women before heading for a chair. "Ensign Naraht, allow me to present the new chief of the science department." Saleke said as he remained standing before his chair, looking in the Horta’s direction. "Naraht? Which one of you is Ensign Naraht?" Holis said as he turned to the two women, seeing Marto in blue he zeroed in on her. (Reply: Naraht) "What? Who was that?" Holis said in confusion as he turned toward the table. (Reply: Naraht) "By the goddess!" Holis mouth dropped open as he spied the waving phalange and he double-timed it around the table. "A Horta ACSO you say! How delightful!" (Reply: Any) (Posted by Charles) ---------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - CMO, Lt (jg) Vren Marto- 1454) Marto had carried both glasses over to the table and turned to Ensign Naraht. "Ensign Physioc is stable and has been moved into a private room. You may visit him anytime you wish Naraht, just don't expect him to respond to you for a few days, that's all." Just as Marto resumed her seat the door opened again and the Captain entered and greeted them. "Doctor, Ensign Ammon." Marto nodded her head in his direction as he entered the room. "Good afternoon Captain." Someone else entered the room behind him and smiled across at Ranae and Marto as he headed for a chair and Marto instinctively smiled back. Suddenly the Captain began speaking. "Ensign Naraht, allow me to present the new chief of the science department." Saleke said as he remained standing before his chair, looking in the Horta's direction. "Naraht? Which one of you is Ensign Naraht?" Holis said as he turned to the two women, seeing Marto in blue he zeroed in on her. Marto minimally shook her head and nodded across the table towards Ensign Naraht. The new CSO's attention was immediately diverted from her once he spied the Horta and he shot off in that direction. Marto slid into the seat beside Ranae and laughed. Keeping her voice quiet she whispered to her. "Just goes to show you, I never thought I would ever be ignored for something that looks like a chunk of granite. Mind you, as a doctor his species fascinates me too." "If you don't mind I need to have quiet word with the Captain. Keep my seat please, I'll be right back." Crossing round the table she stopped at Saleke's side. "Captain, would it be possible for Travis and I to have a private word with you after the meeting." (reply Saleke) "Thank you Captain, yes indeed it has to do with the wedding. Crossing back to her seat she turned again to Ranae. "Please don't think I am being rude Ensign, were you born on Bajor or Cardassia?" There was something about being on the bridge of a Klingon warship that just seamed to bring out the Klingon blood in him. Sitting down to a meal with them eating real Klingon food and signing songs and sharing stores of battle and enemies the have killed and also stores from back home on the Klingon home world Travis was felling pretty good and would have like to stay there longer but duty called and it was time for him to get back to the Mystique for a briefing. Travis had an extra bounce in his step has he mad his way across the bride and into the observation lounge. He walked into the observation lounge where several officer have already gathered and Travis just slipped into the back and took his said. "Doctor, Ensign Ammon." The CMO nodded her head in his direction as he entered the room. "Good afternoon Captain." Ranae also greeted him quietly and then fell silent. Another person entered the room behind him and smiled across at Ranae and Marto as he headed for a chair. Ranae nodded in acknowledgement. Suddenly the Captain began speaking. "If you don't mind I need to have quiet word with the Captain. Keep my seat please, I'll be right back." The Doctor soon returned after her chat with the Captain and sat down beside Ranae again. "Please don't think I am being rude Ensign, were you born on Bajor or Cardassia?" She asked. "I don't consider curiosity as rudeness... I was born on Bajor, Lieutenant, and raised in the Bajoran religion as well. I have been to Cardassia to visit my paternal grandparents a couple of times. Ironically, I found the Cardassians to be far less bigoted about mixed breeds like my brother and me. During my school years I often wished I was living on Cardassia." I shall go and visit him after the meeting. I feel bad that he got hurt defending me against all those angry people,” said Naraht. “If possible, I shall endeavor to see him every day, until he is well, in hope that it will spur his recovery.” Vren Marto was handing a glass of iced water to Ensign Ammon, when the door to the Observation Lounge opened and the Captain arrived. Who was that?" Holis said in confusion as he turned toward the table. “I am right here in front of you, on the other side of the table,” said Naraht. “You did not see me as I am shorter than the average crewman. I am the only Horta ACSO in the 52nd fleet, in fact the only Horta in Starfleet. Luckily for you, I will be serving aboard this ship in your department,“ added Naraht dryly, waving his phalange with no with no small amount of amusement. "By the goddess!" Holis’s mouth dropped open as he spied the waving phalange and he double-timed it around the table. "A Horta ACSO you say! How delightful!" “As ‘New Chief of the Science Department’ is an incredibly awkward name, shall we call you something else instead?” asked Naraht, swaying his phalange in laughter. “I would think that choosing such a name for you at birth would have caused no end of confusion throughout your growth, particularly during your academic pursuits!” (reply Any in the Observation Lounge) (posted by Sheila) ----------------------------------------------- (USS Mystique - Observation Lounge - CO, Captain Saleke and CSO, Lt. "You can call me Holis," The Betazoid said quickly. "I don't stand on regulations within my department and the rank is mostly honorary anyway." He glanced over toward Saleke. "At least that's the way I see it." (Reply: Naraht) "How long have you been on board?" Holis asked as he took the nearest seat to this ACSO and lowered his voice as others began arriving. "And what brought you to StarFleet? The lure of adventure? A yearning for interplanetary culinary treats inherent in an alien planets crust?" Holis chuckled at his own joke. (Reply: Naraht) Saleke turned from the two to find Dr. Vren had taken up station beside him. "Captain, would it be possible for Travis and I to have a private word with you after the meeting." He nodded. "Of course doctor, since it includes yourself and Travis I would logically assume it has to do with the wedding arrangements." "Thank you Captain, yes indeed it has to do with the wedding." "Of course." The Vulcan replied. "After this meeting will be fine." As she turned and walked off satisfied he took his seat and waited for the others to arrive, Dr. Mias was the next to make his entrance and took a seat near the Captain after smiling and waving at everyone in greeting. He looked curiously at the new Betazoid for a moment and his interaction with Naraht before relaxing, apparently satisfied his questions would be answered during the briefing. "I no longer find that surprising unfortunately. Bajorans have become fairly xenophobic since the last time I was home. A sad statement of fact, but unfortunately true, as I found out earlier today. There are still too many Bajorans who think that everyone who is not 100% Bajoran are somehow less Bajoran than everyone else. Please understand that I am not one who subscribes to that particular brand of idiocy. However, whilst I do disagree with them, I understand, in some respects why they feel this way." Naraht’s phalange began to ache from so much waving. “Yes, I wanted to explore the universe but was never going to see much from the same old tunnels on Janus. That’s why I asked for assignment on board a ship in Starfleet. On a station the scenery never changes. I have been onboard only a few weeks and was so hungry when I first got here, I nearly started eating the deck plating! I hadn’t been able to eat for a week aboard the shuttle on the trip here. They didn’t know I was coming or that I was a Horta!” Naraht rested his phalange tip on the table again, turning more serious. “I was disappointed when we were called back to the ship from that strange planet we were on. You and Lt. Ketal will have to get together and take a look at what little data we did get. I never had the chance to get the flavor of the place. And it pulled on me so oddly…. I am having difficulty explaining it, but I think I have now found a way. We must go back and get more data. I am operating in a deficit of information. I find it frustrating.” (Reply Holis, any in the Observation Lounge) (Posted by Sheila) ------------------------------------------------ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
